Avengers #677 Reviews

No Surrender continues with part 3 of our epic story. What do reviewers think?

Adventures In Poor Taste: 8/10 “The best part of this issue is how the writing team focuses in on Quicksilver and makes him the underdog.”

Caped-Joel: 8/10 “Overall, another very enjoyable issue.”

Comic Book University: A+ “Love it. I absolutely love it. This is a fantastic comic book…I can’t find a single flaw.”

Comic Buzz: “I love how this story is unfolding. I’m glad it’s hitting the racks weekly. It helps to keep everything straight. These issues are flying off the racks for a good reason.”

Comic-Watch: 10/10 “I can’t wait to find out what comes next! I’m all in! Any Avengers fan should be all in too!”

Comicosity: 9/10 “This is what Avengers and event comics should be. I’ve had almost seventy pages of Avengers comics this year already, but I want more. This is a fun superheroic, universe-saving saga in the making.”

Comicsverse: 8.2/10 “Avengers #677 appears to be hitting its stride. Ewing, Waid, and Zub seem to be a cohesive team of writers, and it’s clear they all care deeply about the characters they’re working with.”

Critical Blast: “Avengers: No Surrender is definitely the kind of event that I love to read. Lots of strong characterisation and crazy action.”

Diskingdom: 8/10 “I’ve been enjoying this series and now I’m left with more questions that I can’t wait to find out more, and with a weekly series I don’t need to wait long.”

Geeked Out Nation: 8.5/10 “this was yet another satisfying chapter to No Surrender. We may not see the full picture just yet, but we know enough to understand exactly what is at stake here.”

Graphic Policy: 8.4/10 “I’ve been skeptical about this event but three issues in, it’s held up and been fantastic.”

IGN: 8.5/10 “Larraz’s pages are sleek, detailed and full of explosive energy, qualities enhanced by David Curiel’s intense coloring style.”

League of Comic Geeks: 8/10 “The action really started to pick up in this issue. By releasing the series weekly, I think it goes a long way towards ensuring the story feels well-paced.”

Multiversity Comics: 8/10 “Avengers #677 is a focused comic providing additional beats with Quicksilver while retaining forward momentum from past issues.”

Retro Punch: ” the very first page is practically a masterclass, not only recapping the cliffhanger from last week’s issue, but using it to immediately establish the traits of Quicksilver the creative team will spend the rest of the issue exploring”

Rogues Portal: “Avengers #677 continues its streak of thrilling superhero action.”

Sci-Fi Pulse: A “This book justifies the use of the word “epic”. Wow! With characterization this good, action this excellent, and visuals this good one can’t help but squeal in joy knowing there’s another issue out next week.”

Avengers #676 Reviews

When you’re releasing a weekly comic, the feedback and reviews come in fast and furious…How did our second part fare?

Adventures In Poor Taste: 8.5/10 “This is a good issue that reveals key details and gets the villains into the story too.”

Caped-Joel: 8/10 “No telling what’s going to happen next with No Surrender, but overall I’m invested in where it goes.”

Comic-Watch: 8/10 “This story has the potential to be a really fun ride. There are plenty of elements to this story that any reader would be happy with.”

Comicosity: 9/10 “I’m all-in with this Avengers adventure, especially since Avengers #676 expands the horizon of battle, widens the cast of characters, and brings something new to a story that has a classic Avengers feel.”

Comicsverse: 8/10 “All of these questions have me curious and that’s always a good thing after reading a comic book.”

Diskingdom: 8/10 “the Avengers continues to tell a interesting story that has some major aspects to it and it’s certainly peaked my interest in this series and I certainly want to keep turning the pages to find out what’s happening next”

Fortress Of Solitude: 9.5/10 “This series has been running at a really nice pace.”

Graphic Policy: 8.5/10 “This is an event that’s paying off and the weekly pace is helping a ton so far. I know I wouldn’t want to wait a month or even another week for this fast paced adventure.”

IGN: 8.4/10 “Artist Pepe Larraz ensures that the whole package goes down smoothly, crafting another set of detailed, vibrant pages that really capture the gravity of this conflict.”

Monkeys Fighting Robots: “No Surrender is a big deal on its own merit, not because Marvel wants you to think so.”

Newsarama: “Kicked off by an expansive and lovingly detailed double page splash of the two groups of antagonists preparing to strike, [Larraz and Curiel] move outward from there, breaking the engagement into sharp, dutch angled panels that are rich in character blocking, vibrant colors, and plenty of anime-inspired speed lines and booming SFX from letterer Cory Petit.”

Rogues Portal: “Avengers #676 slows the action down with just enough time to breathe before launching into one hell of a cliffhanger.”

Sci-Fi Pulse: “The final page is a full-paged splash that’s a jaw dropper. It’s an image that’s not supposed to happen in comics and Larraz makes it utterly epic. I wish Larraz could be cloned so he could draw everything.”

The Beat: “Avengers #676 throws a ton of plot into the ether and took some big chances–don’t miss this one!”

You Don’t Read Comics: 8/10 “No Surrender is starting to feel like a modern version of a classic Marvel epic, with big villains with mysterious powers behind them”

No Surrender Interview on Comic Book Resources

Avengers: No Surrender Part 3 (Avengers #677) arrives in comic shops tomorrow! In preparation for its arrival, Mark Waid, Al Ewing, and I talked to Comic Book Resources about how things are going, mysteries, and more. Check it out!

I’m The New Writer On Champions!

Marvel just announced that Sean Izaakse, Tamra Bonvillain, and I are the new creative team on Champions starting in April with issue #19!

New team members, new adventures, and lots of surprises. I can’t wait for people to see what we have planned!

If you’ve never read Champions before, it’s a team of new teen heroes in the Marvel Universe. The Champions represent a hopeful generation gripped by big problems they had no part in creating – political strife, climate change, the overreach of technology invading our lives, and more. These teens want to change the world, but figuring out how to do that while juggling their personal lives and emotions; well, that’s the trick.
