Zub at Rose City Comic Con This Weekend!

RoseCityComicCon

It’s my first time attending Rose City Comic Con in Portland, Oregon!

I’ll be there both days at TABLE C-12 promoting Wayward, Skullkickers, Samurai Jack, Pathfinder, Figment, and all the other comic titles I’ve worked on.

RoseCity2014

I’m a Special Guest of the show and they’ve put together a special show-exclusive variant of Wayward #1 with cover art by Erik Larsen (Savage Dragon) and John Rauch (Invincible). Erik did the cover art in a Kirby-esque style so I did up the trade dress to match and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

If you’re in the Portland area I hope you can make it out to the show!

Third Eye has been incredibly supportive of Skullkickers and they went above and beyond the call of duty to bolster Wayward as well. Their store-only variant of issue #1, done by Chip, is an awesome eye-catching design.

In the evening, Chip and I will also be appearing at a special Drink & Draw event hosted by Third Eye Comics.

Zub at Fan Expo 2014!

The summer is almost over, so it’s time for the country’s big pop culture extravaganza, Fan Expo Canada. I’ll be at the show all four days and you can find me at TABLE P32.

This year will be extra special as I’ll be there celebrating the launch of WAYWARD, my new creator-owned comic series being published by Image. If you’re in town for the convention it would also be wonderful to see you at the official Wayward Launch Party happening Wednesday night, hosted by The Beguiling.

Fan Expo Canada has an exclusive Wayward #1 variant cover illustrated by local artist (and awesome all around guy) Kalman Andrasofszky, which you can check out here:

I’ll have a bunch of great stuff available at my table: Wayward, Skullkickers, Samurai Jack, Pathfinder, Makeshift Miracle, and a whole lot more. Bring comics to get signed. Buy comics. Chat comics. It’s going to be a fun weekend!

Here are table listings for Wayward alt cover artists at the show:

Wayward Launch Party! Wed 6-8pm

WaywardLaunchParty

On Wednesday WAYWARD #1 arrives at comic shops everywhere and Wednesday night we’re throwing an official launch party here in Toronto!

WAYWARD LAUNCH PARTY
WED AUGUST 27th
at GUU SAKABAR
559 Bloor Street West, Toronto
6-8pm (presentation at 7pm)

I’ll be there along with cover artists Alina Urusov, Adam Warren, Kalman Andrasofszky, and Chip Zdarsky. It will probably be the only place where you’ll be able to pick up every variant cover for the first issue (along with a super rare Japanese language doujinshi version and a special cover postcard set) and get them signed at the same time.

Guu Sakabar is an award-winning Japanese izakaya with fantastic food and drink. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city and I’m absolutely thrilled to be celebrating the launch there with my dear friends from The Beguiling.

San Diego Comic-Con 2014 is a Wrap

Wow.

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con, my 13th year at the show, was mind-boggling. It was everything that you expect North America’s largest pop culture extravaganza to be.

I pinballed between my Artist Alley table, Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, and IDW inbetween panels and business meetings. It was intense!

With so many people and so much going on it can be tough to maintain a high energy level and positive attitude over 5 intense days. I made a real conscious effort to not sweat the small stuff and it made a huge difference. It was a great time, exhausting and inspiring in equal measure.

And here’s Dreamfinder!

Jim Zub at San Diego Comic-Con!

Hard to believe, but it’s my 13th year at Comic-Con International: San Diego. It’s become a milestone along this creative journey and, as much as it can be stressful and difficult at times, I do enjoy it.

When I’m not running around for panels, signings, or meetings I’ll be at ARTIST ALLEY TABLE GG-06 with Edwin Huang. We’ll have Skullkickers trades, variants, and a limited number of Wayward pre-release postcard sets for sale. Come by and see us!
