Hard-hitting horror series GLITTERBOMB arrives in paperback this March

Collecting the first four issues, plus inside-Hollywood essays from Holly Raychelle Hughes

Fan-favorite writer Jim Zub (WAYWARD, SKULLKICKERS) and red-hot new artist Djibril Morissette-Phan (The Ultimates, All-New Wolverine) will release the first trade paperback collection of their explosive horror series GLITTERBOMB this March from Image Comics.

Farrah Durante is a middle-aged actress hunting for her next gig in an industry where youth trumps experience. Her frustrations become an emotional lure for something horrifying out beyond the water: something ready to exact revenge on the shallow, celebrity-obsessed culture that’s led her astray.

“GLITTERBOMB is a very special project for Djibril and I,” said Zub. “Delving into the dark heart of celebrity with wonderful collaborators like K. Michael Russell, Marshall Dillon, and Holly Raychelle Hughes has been a thrill. We’re excited for readers to read this opening salvo as we reload and take aim at new targets in the next story arc.”

The entertainment industry feeds on our insecurities, desires, and fears. You can’t toy with those kinds of primal emotions without them biting back…

GLITTERBOMB, VOLUME 1: RED CARPET (ISBN: 978-1-5343-0051-4) hits comic book stores Wednesday, March 1st and bookstores Tuesday, March 7th. It can be ordered by retailers with Diamond code JAN170804 and is available for preorder via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, and Indigo.

Select praise for GLITTERBOMB:

“A gut-punch of glitz and blood and starf**ked culture. You want to read this.”Chuck Wendig (Blackbirds)

“A dynamite debut.”IGN

“GLITTERBOMB is a scathing look at fame and our quest for it.”Horror Talk

“Taut, human, creepy s**t. Finding a new angle on the Hollywood meat factory is hard as hell, but this is all kinds of neat.”Kieron Gillen (THE WICKED + THE DIVINE)

“The horror of GLITTERBOMB comes from a very real, very dark place.”Newsarama

“Sharply written and drawn, with deft insight into the trappings of celebrity culture, GLITTERBOMB just might be the ultimate Hollywood horror story.”Karen Berger (Founder of DC’s Vertigo imprint)

Glitterbomb #4 Reviews

glitterbomb04a-585x900-webglitterbomb04b-585x900-web

Glitterbomb #4, the dark and tragic end to our first story arc, arrived in stores on Wednesday. What did critics think of it?

Newsarama: 10/10 “an emotionally-charged conclusion to the arc as Farrah takes control of the spotlight, but in the wake of the election, it’s also an incredibly relevant statement on the state of the world and the people who hold the power within it.”

Adventures In Poor Taste: 7.5/10 “In a world where it’s all about how you look, Zub is revealing the inner truth of the characters is more monstrous than anything you could imagine”

Doomrocket: 8.5/10 “Jim Zub dives into the seamier, nastier side of the creative process, with Djibril Morissette-Phan there to convey every single panel of his twisted imagery magnificently.”

Fangirl Nation: “I am invested. I will be reading more just to find out, so they have done their jobs. Made a rabid reader simply by not giving too much away too soon.”

Horror Talk: 9/10 “the artwork is pitch perfect, walking the fine line between emotion-filled scenes of drama and gore-filled segments of monstrous carnage.”

Reading With a Flight Ring: “There’s this great seamless transition between normal everyday life and sheer abject terror that Jim brings to this. It’s wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated tale of power, greed and loss that turns deadly.”

Retcon Punch: “What Zub and Morrisette-Phan accomplish here is nothing short of incredible.”

We The Nerdy: 9.3/10 “Farrah goes back-and-forth between being a murder monster and a loving mother. It’s a wonderful dichotomy that has been at the heart of all the tension and horror this comic has thus provided.”

Glitterbomb #3 Reviews!

Glitterbomb #3 arrived in stores last week. What did reviewers think of it? Read on and find out…

Newsarama: 10/10 “The body horror might be the hook, but the most resonant idea is that the industry itself is a living nightmare for many.”

Adventures In Poor Taste: 8.5/10 “Glitterbomb continues to be intriguing as it captures the horror of Hollywood and the ‘monster inside you’ story well.”

Fangirl Nation: “I’m pretty well hooked, and I’ll be danged if I don’t want to know what exactly she carries around inside her.”

Nerdy Chatterbox: 5/5 “It does a great job of depicting the seedy underbelly of Hollywood…”

Retcon Punch: “Glitterbomb isn’t holding my hand and allows me questions while telling a surprisingly snug, paced narrative.”

Reading With a Flight Ring: “There’s an undeniable presence about this book that draws you in and leaves you with a desire to want more.”

Glitterbomb #2 Reviews

Adventures In Poor Taste: 10/10 “Right in time for Halloween, Glitterbomb #2 ramps up the horror and will give you food for thought and all kinds of tingles.”

Comic Book Bin: “Djibril Morissette-Phan is surprisingly polished. He continues to assert control over this narrative with a mood of mystery and with a tense pace. His storytelling is sharp, efficient, and clear.”

Fangirl Nation: “It’s an interesting look into the underbelly of such a glamorous world.”

Heroes Direct: 9.2/10 “this is a hugely fascinating story. Horror fans shouldn’t miss this excellent story.”

Newsarama: 10/10 “Everyone involved is crafting a tale that serves to show Hollywood isn’t as glamorous as the pictures make it out to be.”

Reading With a Flight Ring: “With such strong writing, characterisation and visuals this issue got even stronger than the first for me.”
